Everyday Oman
This is what most of Oman, and the greater region, looks like for the everyday person (and this is a 'nice area'). Mostly white cars as 'ordinary people' are only allowed to own white cars. The license plate number denotes their position in society...low number equals very high position (perhaps in government).
Of course, there is a ton of money in the region (due to oil revenue), but it goes to the seven Sheik families and they decide how to spend it. Mostly on silly lavish projects like 20 story murals of the Sheiks themselves etc. The malls were beautiful, but I could find many of the stores in my home town of Albuquerque (USA). So, we did not really buy anything; rather, we traveled and went home to our black car.
