High Seat 2
On 1st March, I posted a Blip of one of the local hunter's high chairs. Here is another example which now lies over the track above the parish council's small quarry pit which has been closed and left to mother nature, much the same as the high seat.
A parish quarry was and probably still is quite common, the parish using the stone to maintain and repair tracks and locals, usually farmers, being allowed at very low cost to go and get a trailer load of gravel.
On the pond/lake was a beautiful pair of brown ducks - I have no idea what they are but hope someone may know. A photo in the extras when they kindly flew up and landed on a field just a few meters away from us. I almost wonder if they are not truly wild ducks.
Well D-Day has been announced. Have now started my own proceedings today to jump ship. Crazy.
Update 02. May: MrsB has told me the "ducks" in the extra photo are what are called "Rostgans" (lit. Rust Goose) or "Ruddy Shelduck" in English. Fascinating read in Wiki particularly German version. Probably escapees.
She told me this the day after seeing a "Nilgans" (lit. Nile Goose) or Egyptian Goose in English on the river next to her house. Similar fascinating story.
Thanks MrsB
