Visit to the Museum of London......

.... and the Fire! Fire! exhibition. The exhibition was OK, but, and I may be being a bit critical here, there was no new information presented - very little is known, even about the cause. There were some fairly simplistic representations of the scenes. The aftermath of the fire, though, was interesting in that a fire brigade was formed, houses were rebuilt in brick and farther apart, fire insurance schemes started. Signs were no longer allowed to hang over the streets, as they'd spread the fire, so the above pub signs (3 kings, 3 crowns, a bald eagle, and a monkey eating an orange!) were made of metal and had to be fixed flat to the wall.

The extra is a Unic Taxi which took over from hansoms and "growlers" in the early 1900s.
