Bee Tee - Bee Fly
Samuel the BT engineer turned up as promised, fiddled with my broadband connection and pronounced it fit for purpose. It's not. :( Maybe it might 'settle down' over the next ten days. Backblipping again.
I saw my first bee-fly of the season the other day, this means that the temperature must have reached seventeen degrees, they don't fly below that. Lovely to see these important pollinators again, even though they flick their eggs into bees' nests and their larvae feed on the grubs.
Today's poem is Ancient Prisons by Miklos Radnoti. http://www.babelmatrix.org/works/hu/Radn%C3%B3ti_Mikl%C3%B3s-1909/%C3%93%2C_r%C3%A9gi_b%C3%B6rt%C3%B6n%C3%B6k/en/40043-O_ancient_prisons
The poet's twin brother and mother died at his birth. He became one of Hungary's leading poets. He was was conscripted into slave labour camps during the Jewish pogrom and shot at the age of thirty-five. The mass grave was later opened and a notebook containing his most acclaimed poems was found. He had forseen his own murder, the poem mourns the destruction of cultural traditions and the language of poetry in Hungary.
