Holme View

Here is the dark silhouette of Holme Island on the other side of the estuary from New Barns on the south (Arnside) side.  Unlike Chapel Island featured in my Friday backblip, this one is not accessible to the public despite being just offshore and connected by both salt marsh and causeway.   There are no breeding eider ducks out there, but hopefully there are shelducks that enjoy the relative isolation and easy access to the estuary.

I needed the sea air and a view of the sunset.  In the morning, it was another visit to spend time in the CT scanner in Lancaster.  The first time was interesting enough to be almost enjoyable, this second visit was more of a challenge.  After downing the aniseed flavoured drink containing the X-ray fluorescent dye, my body was trying to eliminate it as fast as possible.  This meant an uncomfortable 10 minutes in the machine, not helped by the intravenous input of another chemical that gives you the disconcerting sensation that you are wetting yourself!

Anyway, it was soon over, and I spent the afternoon asleep in the sun in the garden, thanks to Wifie's insistence that I should use the opportunity to rest and make some Vitamin D.
