Floral Football Tribute

"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
Soren Kierkegaard (1847)

At a funeral of a dear friend today. A Scientist, Traveller, Sportsman, Family Man, and a committed Christian.

He particularly encouraged and supported children, young people and families. We are grateful for his love, interest and support of our family over many years, through the hard, as well as the happy times.

A keen footballer, who in later life watched all the matches on his massive TV screen. Having been seriously ill over 5 years ago, these last years were referred to as his Extra Time. And very important years, as he was able to walk his beautiful daughter down the aisle, enjoy two grandsons, two little grand daughters, and write his autobiography.

Several beautiful floral tributes. The flowers in the football are black. I wonder if they were dyed.

Readings from Psalms 46 and 91, and 2 Timothy 4:7-8.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

We give thanks for his life, a privilege to have known him.
