High Water
The Dalles Dam is located just beyond the bridge seen here spanning the Columbia River that connects Oregon and Washington. Due to recent heavy rains and snow melt, the dam is releasing significant amounts of water, and this has raised the level of the river.
Normally one can see the rocks on which the Native American fishing platforms, seen in the foreground, are located. Today I noticed the waters were rough and roiling. These platforms, located at Lake Celilo, as well as some shrubs are now partially submerged. The birds that normally bob in these waters and rest on the rocks are nowhere to be found.
