Hope springs eternal...
... in the waiting cat's soul.
As soon as the 'grande' snow disappeared Gracie Twinkle-toes (GT-t) took her 'traditional' place by her solitary bumblebee's underground nest. This will be her third year of hopeful watching.
Alas, the only bad thing about it is she tries to swat it as it emerges. I have to watch her carefully.
Meanwhile she waits sitting on the frozen mud for the solitary female to emerge. I have planted lots of crocus bulbs nearby so she (not GT-t) will find immediate food. The leaves on the crocus are no more than 2 inches high so far --certainly no flowers or bees.
But she sits and waits, keeping watch. Funny girl.
She will do this even in the summer after the bees are out working.
She will probably skip her watch-cat job tomorrow and Saturday because SNOW is once again predicted (groan). It should not be deep this time -- just showers.
Gracie really loves gardening and is excited (as I am) to be able to get out there and play!
