Mashed Potatoes for Breakfast
Sometimes it's the little things that reminds me that I'm in a different culture, especially now that I've been coming to Cairo for 5 years. This sign was on one of the doors from the teachers' room and I noticed it this morning. A group of teachers must have been having a kind of pot luck breakfast together this morning. Obviously, I didn't expect to see bacon, but nor did I expect to see vegetables and chips.
Then on the way home from school tonight on a taxi ride of about 12 minutes, the taxi driver honked his horn 43 times....and I wasn't counting for the first 5 minutes!
That's week 2 over and 50% of the course. It's a lovely group of trainees, all hardworking, enthusiastic and keen to learn. Unfortunately I had to grade a lesson 'below standard' yesterday. Never easy, especially when the trainee in question is working really hard but there are things which are really challenging to put right in such a short space of time. Fingers crossed. Yay - it's the weekend!
