Overcoming obstacles

This evening was the finale of the Edinburgh International Festival, with the fireworks display at Edinburgh Castle and music from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra who were occupying the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens.

Our son had a couple of visitors at hospital this afternoon, so I was busy keeping him cheerful in between physio appointments and the routine of the hospital.

However, on trips up and down to the parent's loft area in Sick Kids for showers etc, I'd noticed that there was a decent view of Edinburgh Castle so I plotted an escape with one of the other parents from Ward 3 and we took up our positions on the stair to see the show. Pity we couldn't open the window, otherwise I might have managed a decent shot too. By the time we got back to the ward our boys were asleep.
