Flying Scotsman
The Flying Scotsman was to run the Worth Valley and the Settle to Carlisle Line to reopen it after the £23,000,000 spent on repairs.
Clickychick had a commision to photograph it passing a client's house so Kanyl and I headed south on his Camper van hoping to catch it going both ways. First we aimed for the Ribblehead viaduct. Unfortunately we underestimated the time to get there and the number of cars. Result we very nearly missed it and weren't in the position we wanted to be. To make matters worse the wheels on the soft verge had sunk. With a little help from two other folk and a little thought we got moving again.
So we moved on and lunched beside the River Ure. Then we moved on to our next chosen spot, only to be "gobbsmacked" at how many cars were already there. Fortunately there was space to get a good park. So we spent the afternoon drinking tea, chatting and reading until the train was nearing.
So the blip is the Flying Scotsman pulling uphill towards Garsdale Summit.
