First Flower

The first second cactus flower of the spring has bloomed.  This one is on the Beavertail prickly pear.  Yesterday, the first popped but I missed it.  You can see the wrinkled up bloom behind this one. These are at their peak when the sun is at its highest point.  I snapped this around 1:00 pm.  By 3:00, it began to close and by sundown, it was shriveled.

The flowers on this particular cactus are going to bloom in quick succession, probably  multiple flowers a day from here on.
