Edinburgh International Harp Festival
Thursday he was playing his cornet, today the clarsach. C was rehearsing in the morn and playing in The Magic Harp concert at The Edinburgh International Harp Festival in the afternoon. It was a fab traditional Celtic story told by C's teacher, who is a great traditional storyteller, to harp music. The harpists were all school age, supported by a couple of adult players. It was fantastic. It was held at Merchiston Castle School, a private school in Edinburgh - an example of how schools can differ within one country. The venue was a grand old stone building, with wooden vaulted ceiling, posh tartan carpet on the stairs and all very different from Cornbank Primary School!
Between rehearsal and performance C n I had a browse of the harp exhibition - lots of beautiful harps, I hadn't realised quite how much harps cost...we may need to save for a while before he can have one of his own. Lucky the Clarsach Society provide it for p6 & p7! We also had a kick about with the football - seems it's cheating/a foul if you grab hold of your opponent by the arms to stop them getting the ball! Imagine?!
This eve we went out for a lovely Italian meal with A's parents. D entertained/confused the waiter by talking to him in French...
