We got a bit of work done in the garden on Saturday, which was most rewarding. Part of it was clearing some pathways from the encroaching bush, including these flax fronds.

Flax (phormium tenax) are the most tenacious of plants. They grow in almost any soil, in swampy wetlands and windy mountain sides. They are remarkable survivors, even surviving the most brutal of pruning. What's more they have a magnetism for attracting bellbirds thanks to their sweet nectar flower fronds. They truly are a magnificent plant.
