Melony Sunday

I read a blog today which emphasised the word equanimity. Something about being able to stay balanced and composed regardless of surroundings or external events. I think some equanimity has seeped into me with all of these travels as I'm currently equally content whiling away a Sunday in Banda Aceh as I am in Cambridge. In some ways being in Banda is preferable as I don't have to worry about council tax paperwork piling up or getting stained by oil after the fifth bike issue of the day.

Today I've broken the back of some planning work for the South Sudan programme. It feels slightly obscure to be doing it from here, but the world is truly and wonderfully 'global'.

I've chatted to friends in Cambodia, the US, Australia and the UK, read news stories about dozens of countries, and thought about planned or desired trips to several others.

I never lose the appreciation for being able to travel to, read about and interact with different places. The world is a marvel and despite everything going on today, I hope it becomes more cohesive, more open and more tolerant.
