End Of An Era
In Northampton today to meet a friend from school days. Once again it was sunny and warm - amazing.
The town was busy though as the schools went back here today, there were few children in sight - just these two bronze youngsters atop a shoe maker's last. This sculpture was erected in 1986, in memory of Northampton's shoe industry, all but gone these days.
The artist was Graham Ibbeson who has made many sculptures for public places. Perhaps his most famous is of Eric Morecambe (of Morecambe and Wise).
