How long...?

I was at the unveiling of this plaque a few years ago at the centenary of the church beside it.  There have since been lots of works ripping up, and putting down again,  bits of the main road (which is to my back in this picture)  BUT    How long has there been a 'bench'  which looks like a wee boat?   I mean - Have I walked past it for ages,  or has it just been put there recently?   (There used to be metal benches  but now I can't remember if they're still there now!)
