Big Pipe

The good thing about living in Lochaber is that it is always possible to do a new walk; or an intersting variation on one you have done previously.

We had a wee walk to Lochan an Tuirc today. Though you can see it from surrounding mountain tops it is well hidden from any main road. We had to walk through this surreal storage area of huge pipes. I estimate they are 2.4 metres in diameter and made of spun fibreglass. They are clearly intended for a hydro scheme on this estate. At this diameter they are part of a design for a large dam or intake structure on a proportionately large hill burn.
