Up early this morning (6:30).
At 8 am we were on our to Benimantell to hike to the tallest point of Alicante province. Well someone had other plans for us, since our car (another loaner because they are not able to fix our own) broke down around 9 am bit outside of Benidorm.

It took 2,5 hours for the car to get towed. As only two people can ride with the tow truck driver, Niklas and I and the dogs stayed behind. Around 2 pm Olli-Pekka had been to the car dealer and came back for us with a new loaner. In the mean time we found a little creek for the boys to refresh and drink and cool themselves. So our time waiting by the road was not a total waste for the doggies.

As it was too late for hiking we went to check out Guadalest Valley and reservoir. This is from the reservoir. It's very pretty area.

We were back home 10 hours later. We're all pretty worn out. Now we have to decide when is our next try to get on top of Alicante. On clear day you can see as far as Ibiza from there.

Even with the day being an almost total bust I'm glad we all got safe back home. Dogs are tired and happily sleeping at their own beds.

"The Guadalest Valley, also known as the 'Eagle's Nest' is situated at about 25kms from Benidorm. The spectacular tourist spot can be reached after a refreshing 1hr drive from Alicante. The drive offers stunning views of the mountain scenery and as you pass the village of Polop, the winding rustic roads give the feel of the bygone era.

In the ancient times Guadalest was originally an Islamic country, and was of great military importance. The ancient ruins and castles can be seen even in the present times despite having been destroyed by the battles and natural disasters." from Alicante.com
