The hat did it: stopped me in my tracks as I was bouncing around looking for shots. So I went over to tell her I really liked it. 

And we spent 30mns chatting about a range of topics. Turns out she's a free lance journo working for local media -- among other clients. Super interesting conversation about politics, the pitting of people against people, the loss of civility and basic human discourse, and on and on. Two kindred souls who found each other unexpectedly. We exchanged contact info :)
