Hoggin' the stage!

Walking the dog on the streets in a quiet residential area tonight, she dashed out to the end of her extendable lead when she spotted this lovely hedgehog (or as my entomologist friend might describe it, flea habitat). It immediately went into its defensive curl which did help with the photography. Although my phone's camera is pretty poor in low light, I still like this photo as a record of a moment in time with a wild animal. The reddish tint, the line of streetlights and the overall fuzzy look shouts "urban night-time" to me. About 30 seconds after we left the 'hog alone, it legged it across a lawn at HIGH speed (they can shift when they try!).
