Work, rest, play #2: Pétanque.

Today was infinitely better than yesterday. I had to phone the bank, which I did, and chatted away to the nice lady in French (first thing in the morning, still rubbing my eyes and drinking my coffee) and was very proud of myself indeed. I finally felt back to my normal level of energy for the first time in almost two weeks, got loads of work done, felt positive all day, took the dog for a walk at lunch and everyone was playing pétanque, and I also signed up for a French course (because I realised that making an appointment in French after having lived here for two years is really nothing to be that proud of...)

I asked these guys if I could take a photo and they seemed perfectly happy (one even said "Cheese!" in English), I took four in quick succession to try and get a good shot, and suddenly I heard "Hey, that's enough, thank you!" so I scuttled off, half reprimanded and half confused... I definitely need to practise subtle shooting.
