Blip 1908 – In 1908 the first large suffragette rally was held in London and Edith Morley became the first woman appointed as a professor at an English university-level institution. In revenge the Daily Mail sponsored the first Ideal Home Exhibition at Olympia but Elizabeth Garret Anderson countered by becoming the first woman in England to be elected as a mayor.
