Gormley 6
I was down at Ocean Terminal (in Leith) today and took a wander around the side along "Britannia Walk" where you can sit and look over Western Harbour to Fife.
You will also find there the last of Anthony Gormley's iron statues that are positioned in various places along the Water of Leith, starting at the Museum of Modern Art and ending here at Leith harbour, this one is positioned at the end of what remains of an old pier. There is a BBC video here of the sculptor himself being interviewed about his work when they were unveiled. Some of the statues are positioned in the middle of the river and can look a bit spooky obscured between tree branches, but I always thought this one looked a bit sad standing so far out all on his own, and especially now that he is so covered in bird poop!
But at least he has some company in the form of Cormorants, sea gulls and there was even a heron that stopped by for a chat while I was there. I was tempted to crop this image to give a larger view of the statue but couldn't quite decide which image looked best, so I created a Blipfolio of two cropped versions of the same photo as well as a couple other images I took at the same time, including one with the heron in it.
