JJ Cale - After Midnight (1969)
Laura Marling played this influential piece on Six Music as one of the influences during her formative years. I went to see JJ Cale at Hammersmith Odeon once on a BBC freebie. After Midnight was later covered by Eric Clapton, who was an admirer of his playing style. Laura Marling said that JJ Cale had written Layla, recorded by Eric Clapton when he was in Derek and the Dominoes, but this is incorrect. Eric Clapton wrote the song and lyric in praise of Patti Boyd.
