Popping!

The flowers on the grizzly prickly pear cactus (above) and the beavertail  prickly pear are popping like crazy right now.  The flowers on both are pretty small.  You wouldn't expect these hardy, prickly plants to have such delicate flowers.  The petals are almost translucent so it's somewhat difficult to capture their definition.

The red-orange color of this flower belies what one would have expected from the color of the bud just a couple of days ago.

Saw the podiatrist today.  He wasn't very happy with my disturbing, digit divots.  More soaking, antibiotics and shoelessness.

I felt pretty good about being caught up with my posts - and then my internet service went down - for two days. So here I am, behind in posting again.
