Start Where You Are
So, I've been in the doldrums of late in terms of getting momentum behind the business. I've just about come to the end of my self-employment course and should be trading in the next week or so barring a couple of bureaucratic hurdles.
But in the last couple of weeks I've really been lost. Like a meta version of constantly rearranging my desk, I've been tweaking my portfolio, tweaking my FB page, tweaking my site.
I realised today that it was for a couple of reasons:
1/ I've done most of what I set out to do in the last few months:
I've built up a lot of the confidence that had ebbed away during my years as a designer for a faceless corporation ( wannabee corporation at least ); I've knocked lumps of rust off my skills as a photographer; I've built up the confidence to get myself "out there" thanks to you wonderful blippers.
2/ Fear: Fear of failure is still there, so procrastination has set in. And I have to deal with that and squash it.
So where do I start? Well this present ( a notebook ) from Rachel gave me the answer. And I spent this morning setting down in it what my next targets are and what to do about it.
"Start where you are... you great twit" is what it should read. I'm aiming to get them all done by blip number 200. :)
