Low sun ...
The sun hadn't really come out all afternoon, and we froze (especially in the ears department) as we beetled southward into the wind after visiting a friend on the off chance, having left our car some distance away. But when we were in the car and heading home, there was a sudden gleam and the dead fields lit up all around us.
Our car has what I call "knitting" in the windscreen - the clever stuff that makes for speedy de-icing in winter - and the effect is to make any photos taken through the glass look ... distressed. So there was nothing for it but to screech to a halt and leap out to capture the fabulously dark clouds looming over the sunlit field.
Happily every other potential road-user must have gone home for tea ...
