Voronet, Romania

Voronet Monastery is medieval and is one of the Painted churches of Moldavia in the North of Romania.  This is a panel from the frescoes which decorate the outside of the building to commemorate a battle victory. The building was completed in 1488 in 3 months and 3 weeks.  The special blue in all the frescoes s known as Voronet Blue.

I took this photo when I was working in Romania in 2003.  It is one I love and have framed and on display.

Reason for an emergency blip...Went to see NTLive Twelfth Night with Tamsin Greig as Malvolia and really couldn't see anything to blip.
