KYNGESTON VPON HVLL

When we were in Hull earlier in the week we visited Ferens Art Gallery.  Whilst there I saw an old map of Hull, drawn by Hollar in 1640 with a copper engraving of the same in a display case. I was very taken with the picture and had a look in the shop as we were leaving but they didn't have a copy.  I managed to find a print on Amazon and it arrived today.  I just need a frame for it then I'll hang it up.

It is a very interesting map, showing the original city walls and the fact that most of the shipping trade was on the River Hull rather than the River Humber.  High Street, part of Hull Old Town where William Wilberforce lived, backs onto the river.
