Friday 2017 -- Difficult Moments

Today our granddaughter Desiree says goodbye to her 10-year-old son Tristan because his dad has legal custody, and Des and her husband Justin live in Missouri, where Justin is a U.S. Navy Recruiter.

It was 2 1/2 years ago that Des lost the custody case because she had been a reckless and wild single mom before she met and married her husband. What's very sad is Tristan doesn't even live with his dad now. He lives with the dad's former girlfriend who gave birth to Tristan's little half-brother and then she separated from the boys' father (because he's a deadbeat dad). What a mess. Because Des & Justin live out-of-state, Des doesn't think the court will award her custody of Tristan.

The bright side of this sad story is that Justin thinks he is about to be transferred back to San Diego. Then legal proceedings will take place.

For us another bright spot is that Tristan's "step-mom" is a super good person and loves Tristan like her own son. She wants to keep Tristan and that's where the story gets complicated because, well, she is not Tristan's mom and she is not even married to his dad and never was.
