Fabric Market

This was our destination this afternoon and its location, very close to the smart Conrad Hotel, set the tone for the afternoon - a harsh reminder of the gulf of wealth in Cairo. We stood out like sore thumbs but were greeted with the ubiquitous 'Welcome to Egypt'. It doesn't cater for tourists and we had to discreetly remind ourselves on our iPads of the Arabic numbers 1-10. We didn't buy anything today, but we'll be back. The fabrics tend to be more for curtains and upholstery rather than for clothes, except for rather silky glitzy fabric for evening dresses. I'll be back! It's worth a visit Undercovercairo and I'd have called you had you not been working today.
