Whitby Abbey

We left York relatively early to take the train to Whitby. We got stranded in Middlesbrough due to railway strike action. I can understand the union and think it is a shame to loose the guards. I also suspect they are fighting a loosing battle. On the way into Middlesbrough we saw the transporter bridge which is well impressive. We ended up taking a bus to Whitby and enjoyed the ride over the moor. We arrived in Whitby a little later than planned to glorious sunshine albeit with a hint of haar. Visited the Abbey which is magnificent. Then wander through town and boat trip. Whitby was totally packed with people. A nice place though. Rounded off the day with fish and chips.
