Lovely Cobh

Okay, so yesterday I rubbished Cobh.  But today, from the outgoing ferry to France, it all looked good again; gaily painted facades and big cathedral shouting out loud, even if all this hides something much more grey and impoverished.  We were one of the first to board the ferry "Pont Aven" and, with a caravan on tow, this meant going deep down into the bowels of the ship where, normally, only the  juggernaut lorries lurk.  Later, we went through "the will we won't we" dine in the big expensive restaurant and, of course, we did. And, as usual, the buffet starter and desserts were great, but the mains were pretty hopeless.  Still, steaming out of Ireland en route to France with the sun sinking slowly down on our Irish winter and a whole French summer opening up ahead, it all seemed well worth it.
