Quod oculus meus videt

Wash Brook Pool

Sometimes, when you haven't been to a particular location for a while, things can surprise you.  I have to admit though I wasn't expecting to find a 10 metre wide swathe of ground flattened and Wash Brook completely re-profiled to help water flow along it's length.  One thing it did allow was easy passage along the side of this pool; something that in the past was done with extreme care, in case I should sink up to my knees in the soft ground.  It has also resulted in a green lane nearby being impassable due to brash and tree branches blocking access.

The sun had only just risen and this pair of swans were moving serenely across the pool, back lit by the low light.

The rest of the day was spent at Weston Park, watching the spring horse trials.  I've always thought of it as a small event but we had such stars and Mark Todd from New Zealand and Zara Tindall using the event to bring on some of their horses.
