It's not often that my tendency to operate on a slash-and-burn basis in the garden results in actual flowers, but I've been pleased to welcome a pot of these cheerful ?narcissi? this year, having been driven to buy some bulbs instead of finding ancient ones in the shed. I thought they were never going to come out; other gardens were full of daffs and these ones were showing green spikes before Christmas but seemed to take far longer to flower. I bet it told me that on the packaging ...

Anyway, I nipped out for the photo while I was washing the breakfast dishes. Just as well - the weather went rather catastrophically downhill thereafter.
