Monoprint
Today we worked in the main studio for most of the time.
In the morning we sketched out some ideas then spent some time making monoprints. This is a simple process where a perspex sheet is inked up, then the chosen paper (usually very thin) is placed on the 'plate' and a series of marks or a drawing is made. When the paper is peeled from the plate you have your print. We were again working with oil based inks and various papers.
The blip is a hand drawn monoprint of the Machrie Moor standing stones (Arran) on a pre-prepared tissue paper coloured with acrylic inks.
In the afternoon we made tiny dry point etchings in tiny perspex blocks and put them through a printing press with good quality high rag content paper and etching inks.
Tomorrow we have a free choice of method and subject to work for a while with something we want to develop ...
