Port Sunlight

Yesterday we went to Port Sunlight on the Wirral. It's a lovely garden village built by Lever Brothers for their employees. (Sunlight soap). It was a healthy environment. Instead of a slum, people had gardens, education, allotments, theatre and entertainment. From Lord Leverhulme it was a combination of Victorian philanthropy and the benefit of a stable, strong, healthy workforce.

It was warm and sunny when we got there - warmest day of the year - but then the haar came in and it was freezing. Nice trip out though, and a nice break from being round at the house.
