Hare Hill (again)
The voluntary work started off pretty much as usual - up a ladder cleaning out gutters and then some weeding. But then things changed -
The National Trust do Easter Egg trails over the Easter Weekend but this year Hare Hill has tried to get in first - we started last weekend. It is fair enough I think - we are a very small site and we can't compete with places like Dunham Massey or Lyme Park. Anyway, what started off as a bit of helping out on the Easter Egg trail stand at lunchtime turned into a pretty hectic afternoon. I have never seen Hare Hill so busy with visitors - ever - and I think we have probably underestimated the number of Cadbury's chocolate bunnies we are going to need over Easter. They were going really quickly this afternoon.
But it was fun. I prefer gardening to working in the kiosk, but checking the childrens' trail sheets and handing out chocolate bunnies as prizes was actually rather a nice way to spend the afternoon.
