Dennyfield
This week's mid-week football adventure saw me walking a couple of miles across the valley to Dennyfield, the home of Thackley AFC, who play in in the Northern Counties East League (NCEL) Premier Division, Level 9 of the English football pyramid. Thackley are one of three teams from the north of Bradford in the NCEL, with Eccleshill and Manningham based Campion being in the division below. The NCEL covers Yorkshire and parts of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
Tonight's opponents were Hemsworth Miners Welfare who hail from Fitzwilliam, the other side of Wakefield. Hemsworth took an early lead and had the better of the first half. Thackley played with more purpose in the second half and scored three quick goals to end up comfortable victors. All of which set me up nicely for an atmospheric night time walk home through the woods.
A fuller set of photos from around the ground can be found here.
In extras you'll find a Heron in the Aire from the walk over and a campus Blackbird from earlier in the day.
