First Day Back

Up early (thanks to the jetlag) and I got the guided tour of the two new houses that my wife bought whilst I was away working.

First house (pictured) was rebuilt several years (read - totally updated) and then wrecked by a tenant. The owners have gone broke (for some reason) and arranged a short sale to get rid of the house. This was the first house we saw late last year that started the whole "buying more houses" thing, but has taken 9 months of waiting to get.

My wife has spent a couple of weeks or more cleaning this house and getting it ready for repainting and has done a brilliant job. This house was disgusting when we saw it 9 months ago, and today after cleaning it almost looks rent ready. Almost I say, because it does need a few small jobs doing, plus it will be repainted before it goes back on rental.

This house will go down as the best house we picked up easily.

The second house is brilliant. It's a wreck. When we renovate it, we are not working with anything, simply ripping out and and rebuilding. Kitchen and bathroom will find a dumpster, a sun room will become a bedroom, all the windows updated, and so forth. Really really looking forward to working on it later this year.
