A breezy walk
I thought that yesterday was windy, but it was calm and still in comparison to today. We walked up onto the moors above Nenthead village, in cloud and rain with no views. After a couple of hours the cloud lifted and the rain stopped. Great. Then the wind got up. The gusts made it difficult to keep upright.
Several people ended up in the bog - at least it was soft for landings!! Someone said we looked like a line of drunks trying to walk. It's a shame that a still image does not capture this.
Here we are enjoying our lunch on a peat hag. The views had opened up and we could see for miles. It was better to be closer to the ground for a little shelter while we ate.
The wind worsened and our leaders, Dave and Lil, decided to shorten the walk. We were back in Nenthead at 2.30pm which was 30 minutes before the pub opened, so we went to see the progress on the model village. It has been lovingly constructed over the past 10 years by one man. He loves to talk about it so we passed a happy time there and were the first through the pub doors!!
Jean, Brian and Caroline are in the blip today. I think we were 25 walkers in total.
I am very, very tired tonight.
PS Arth and Aggie want to mention that they did not consent to doing such a challenging walk and are considering legal action!
