The audition

This is Olivia practising in the black box before she is called for her audition on the stage. She has taught herself the routine, learned the words and worked out her props. She has been working hard on her routine during the Christmas holidays to the point that we were banished from the room while she worked. She would only allow her little brother to stay and watch!

I always get so nervous as she puts so much pressure on herself. We did try and talk her out of it this year but she would not be persuaded. Oh my goodness, I'm beginning to realise how much like me she is. STUBBORN.

We all sat in the theatre as she auditioned and after approximately one minute we realised that there was a problem. They were playing the wrong music. Olivia tried to carry on but quickly realised that her routine didn't fit, so she stopped and politely asked if she could start again with the correct music. They refused to let her try again saying that they had seen enough. She was devastated. We tried to console her saying that they had seen enough meaning that she was so good and she didn't need to worry. Of course, she would not listen as she was so upset.
I'm not sure I could cope if she decides to follow a showbiz life!
