Skipping Straight To Friday
My Dear Fellow,
I was planning to work on Good Friday. It's always nice and peaceful in the office on public holidays and the buses are empty. Typically when I work on public holidays it's kind of like a holiday for me too, I listen to music and podcasts and swan about. Only I still get paid.
(As an aside, do you remember that time Andy The Christian brought in a radio controlled car and we spent one Saturday getting paid overtime for racing it around Thistle Street? Ah, those were the days).
But my lazy public holiday plans were scuppered by the fact that the office is undergoing a big refurbishment at the moment. Over the long weekend, desks are being moved, monitors are being replaced and I don't even know where I'm sitting next week.
To facilitate the move, all employees have been told to eff off and not come back until Tuesday. What I had thought was Thursday, is in fact Virtual Friday. So tonight Er Indoors and I have gone straight to our Friday ritual: a curry and an episode of "Feud", which is the best bitchiest bonanza ever for someone who loves old movies like me.
The other big news of the day was that the company we've hired to fly Punky & Jasper to NZ came back with the earliest date the boys can fly - it is 27th July which is way earlier than we thought. So me and Er Indoors have some serious mulling to do - theoretically we could leave at the start of August which is about a month earlier than we expected.
It's probably as well it's a four day weekend. That's a lot of mulling.
