Report button

My previous entry has been suspended. There was nothing untoward. Just a boring, simple beach photograph.

The problem was with my write up. No, no swearing involved. I just mentioned a friend had got a new book out and put a link to it. It got suspended on the grounds it contained promotional stuff...

But this is now about the report button.

Frankly, I don't like the idea of blip members policing other blip members. Especially when this is done anonymously.

I understand that blipfoto has its rules and that those are there to ensure this is a safe website for all its users. I also understand that it is everyone's responsibility to make sure that those are enforced.

But I think that the report button opens up a window for personal vendetta. If you don't like a particular blipper, it is very easy to just press the report button, on any grounds, and get their entry pulled down. It also makes the rules very inconsistently applied.

Blip is full of pictures with borders, images altered by photoshop, mild nudity, mild swearing and a lot of promotional stuff. Most stay up, some even reach the spotlight, while a few get pulled out.

I am fine with it. None of the things mentioned above offend me in the slightest. Small mindness and meanness do.
