Squabbling gulls at sunset

I'm not a great fan of gulls although I do sometimes admire their aerobatics. Tonight as the sun was setting I watched four noisy gulls fly around the back gardens as if squabbling. I've been wondering why there are gulls regularly appearing over our gardens for some months and put it down to the easy supply of food compared to the more recent invasion of cities and towns near the sea.

I had my camera near by so decided to get a quick blip by stepping out of the back door.  You can see how low this gull is when I say that this is my macro lens which was already attached to the camera.
