A Series of Unfortunate Events

What a wonderful last day we've had but it hasn't been without incident.

We managed to get the children ready early and were out of the house at the crack of 10.30.
We headed straight to the boat hire place in keswick but, even though they promised us there would be motor boats today, there was a problem with the jetty so they weren't letting anyone take them out today.
Much to the childrens delight, we had a walk prepared as a back up plan. We had a bit of trouble finding a parking place but ended up leaving the cars on a grass verge then started up Catbells. Who knew it would turn out to be a vertical scramble of 1,150ft and narrow tracks with sheer drops. I have to admit, I got a little bit scared, especially when a strong wind started blowing as we neared the summit. We'd just got to the top when poppy took a tumble, bashed her knee and had a major meltdown. A helpful lady gave us a sterile wipe and some plasters to patch her up. I was very pleased to start the descent which was mainly straightforward. Got back to the cars to find 2 parking tickets waiting for us.
Got home, and Heidi and I set up an Easter egg hunt for the children complete with rhyming cryptic clues. Alf refused to take part as he's too cool but the others seemed to have fun, especially when they finally discovered the eggs and chocolate bunnies.
Having to force ourselves to make a move now as we have a table booked for dinner at the local pub.
I think we'll all be very sad to leave tomorrow. It's been a brilliant week.
