Light (EP5)
Photography is all about light, of course. Without light there wouldn't be photography, This week's Experimental Photography Challenge wants to take you to the playground of light. Instead of working with existing light conditions (be it indoors or outdoors), try manipulating different light sources to achieve unusual effects. Work with multiple light sources, flashlights, diffusors (a white sheet of paper can be very effective in bright sunlight). Don't forget the power of shadows.
Today's picture was shot at night in front of a black wall. I used a very low shutter speed (15s) and low ISO (200). I used a flashlight to illuminate my supermodel's back (with the flashlight always very close to her body), throwing some light also on the wall in front of her. I then turned off the light, repositioned our daughter, and did the same thing with her right side - all in one take.
I call this shot "Projection of Self-Image".
The extra was done with the same technique, but with a different and much less attractive model.
Work with what you have at home or find outside. You might also want to use some of the techniques you've discovered/learned/invented in previous EP-challenges. Everything is allowed, but make light your main subject. If you need inspiration or ideas, try searching Google Images. Pinterest is also a fun place to look for experimental photography.
