The Liminal Space

Went to see the opening of an exhibition down in Leith - The Liminal Space by Elina Karadzhova.

From Elina's own description:
"The ‘The Liminal Space’ explores the phenomenon of living in-between. The phenomenon when you belong neither ‘here’ nor ‘there’, but rather somewhere in-between your places, languages and cultures. It is a common experience for people who ‘move’ or ‘moved’. ‘The Liminal Space’ questions what happens with their identity, sense of belonging and memories.
You cannot see or touch the liminal space, it does not have physical dimension, but we carry it with ourselves wherever we are!
It is about never ending transition, life in a constant flux."

It consists of a couple of video installations and although they are each quite short because there is lots going on it takes a few times through to pick up everything that is going on. It prompted some thoughts about my own feelings of belonging, and the way that it need not be a geographical re-location - it could be about changing careers, or the way you look at the world.
On at the Coburg House Art Studios until Sunday.
