Easter Saturday Campfire Vigil

Continuing 1000s of years of traditional story telling, we enjoyed story telling around the camp fire, whilst drinking tea, and eating cheese toasties or toasted marshmallows. Instead of hearing the usual Easter vigil stories of God's salvation, we had slightly different ones.

How God saved the 3 Jewish men in the Babylonian furnace, and allowed King Nebuchadnezzar to recognise the power of the Jewish God; how his sister Miriam helped Moses survive infancy in a time of genocide perpertrated by the Egyptians against the Israelites; the tale of King David's great grandmother Ruth; and the tale of that reluctant prophet, Jonah who warned the people of Nineveh to change their ways.

It was such fun today to rewrite those tales in more relaxed campfire story style.

I realised how interconnected they all were. Even down to remembering the family of the refugee who visits our church regularly, and who hails from Nineveh itself.
